Borovets
This is the oldest ski resort in Bulgaria, having
been founded in 1896. At that time it was called Chamkoria and was a
favourite holiday spot for the Bulgarian
aristocracy. Nowadays, Borovets is the biggest Bulgarian mountain resort,
located at an altitude of 1 350 m on the Northern slope of Mount Rila.
It stands only 73 km from Sofia, and offers luxury hotels
and
year-round
sports and entertainment opportunities. The total length of the ski runs here is 40
km, descending from a height of 2 534 m. The resort also offers most
up to date artificial snow facilities, ensuring visitors excellent skiing
opportunities, whatever the whims of nature are.

Pamporovo
This resort rises at an altitude of 1 655 m
at the foot of Snezhanka peak in the Rhodope Mountains. It is only 260
km from Sofia and 85 km from Plovdiv.
This
is the southernmost skiing resort in Bulgaria and in Europe, offering
an optimum number of sunny days to skiers. It has a moderate mountain
climate with a Mediterranean influence. The hotels here have been renovated
and new ones have been built; there are several spa centers as well.
Most hotels have swimming pools with mineral water. The ski runs are
suitable for beginners and are safe for children's ski schools.

Uzana
site is a real discovery. A place huddled among venerable oak forests,
known as the geographic center of Bulgaria just 22 kilometers away from
the town of Gabrovo. The small and modest mark that shows the real center
of the country is a real attraction for the tourists in this small paradise
site. The Uzana site is situated on 1 300 meters above the
sea level and is one of the most beautiful parts of the Balkan Mountain
Range. The site provides great opportunities for winter, mountain and
ecological tourism. The near by situated hut "Uzana" is part
of an internatonal walking highway, that reaches the shores of the Black
sea. The sites provides wonderful conditions for relax through the whole
year. The winter is suitable for winter sports and during the summer
for mountain hiking, cycling and horseback riding. The interest of the
tourists is huge and the site is getting more popular. The ski season
starts in the middle of December and ends in the beginning of April.
Uzana is surrounded by the natural park "Bulgarka",
which is famous for its venerable oak forests and miscellaneous animal
world.
The Uzana site is a real paradise for the people who
love nature.
The resort area Uzana is situated 22 km away from
Gabrovo and offers good opportunities for tourism and winter sports.
The locality of Uzana is one of the few places in the central part of
the Balkans that offer favourable conditions for ski-tourism. Its development
as a mountain resort of local and regional significance has been included
in the regional development plan and is supported by the Regional Governor
and the Mayor of Gabrovo. There are institutional holiday houses, several
hotels, 3 chalets, a ski-lift, a base of the Mountain Rescue Service,
catering establishments. The geographic centre of Bulgaria is located
within the region, too and is marked with a memorial sign. There are
regular buses during the holidays.
